In Ghostly Apparitions (In Plastic), Ventura confronts the emotional aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic through ghost-like self-portraits, captured roaming dimly lit rooms. Created as a continuation of his lockdown-era work, the series replaces traditional blanket ghosts with translucent plastic sheeting—inviting interpretations of suffocation, concealment, and physical vulnerability. Through hazy reflections, tight framing, and the soft opacity of textured plastic, the images evoke a haunting stillness—where the artist becomes both figure and phantom, present yet fading.
